The air around was so heavy that it seems that I am in the middle of the potential battlefield, suffocating. The tension is so high that if anyone did any stupid move, it will definitely marked the beginning of this battle.
My mind was hazy, as if being clouded by the colored smoke from the burning tires which used to distinct both sides.
I couldn’t make any move recklessly.
That silhouette image in front was staring down on me like an eagle, with his sharp eyes tracking each and every moment I made. However he was not alone, as both Kobe and Audrey was right below him.
No doubt, I couldn’t find any reasons which me having involved in this situation. What exactly did I do to get myself involved with this bunch of punks?
It’s seems like a perfect chance for me to run away now. But in the process of doing so, I will have to abandoned my friends, Kobe and Audrey, just to save myself.
Of course, there is no commander in the world who could lead a battle without any planning beforehand. No doubt, I was surrounded from the sides and there is hardly any chance for me escape. That spiky guy had planned all along.
“Ken… huh?”
He laughed with a grin on his face, as if showing that he will catch this “prey” of his without fail.
“Ken….”
This time round, the voice was weak that it’s seems that it is from someone whose energy got drained away.
That weak voice belonged to Kobe. There he was underneath that spiky guy. Audrey who was beside was nursing him, telling him not to move nor speak, only to lie down there.
The next moment after Kobe had called out for me, he received a hard kick from him. Followed next was Audrey screaming while he moans in pain
“STOP IT! Darwin I beg you!”
Audrey was pleading to him as she held tightly closed to Kobe, sheltering him from any incoming kicks by Darwin.
“Ken… Pleas-“
Again, I heard Kobe’s weak voice which interrupt halfway by his groan.
Even from afar, I could see the silhouette image, Darwin who laughed sadistically away while adding even more strength in his kick whenever Kobe tries to speak.
At this rate, I couldn’t even know what Kobe was trying to say.
“STOP !-”
“Don’t say it anymore!”
Audrey screamed as she covered Kobe’s distraught face with her pale white hand which seems glowing under the moonlight. She held to him even harder.
“Ken… Pleas-“
Once again, I couldn’t catch what he was trying to say next. The surrounding was filled with Audrey’s scream and the sadistic laughs.
“PLEASE RUN!-“
This time, I finally heard what he said. But at the same time, I couldn’t know what to do. Whether should I heed his words and start running away with my tail wigging behind or should I stay down there.
I couldn’t get to decide what I should choose, since there is no guarantee that I would be able to escape from this unknown rural place. Images of the consequences of a failed attempt of escaping had overwhelmed my mind. Maybe I should just give up, sacrifice myself in return for the safety of both of them.
“RUNNN –“
Just before I decide to turn myself in, I heard Kobe’s voice again. This time, it was filled with energy, as if he had used up all his energy for this cry.
With that, I decide to make an escape
