Strategy 7 - Verwechseln

Arching her slender back, she lowered the snowy furry down on to the ground carefully with her lean hands. Its hind legs were protruding outward slightly as she lowered it down cautiously.

As its legs touch the soft ground, it stood down there still. As if it still want more of Audrey’s warm embracement.

“You should go back now…”

She whispered to it, telling it that it shouldn’t stay here and it should return back to its own family back in that hut.

As if understood of what she meant, it started hopping away in a synchronized pace, making a soft brushing sound as it brushed through the grasses.

“Hush…Good girl”

She said with a smile as the rabbit hopped back into the hut.

The next moment, she stood up and slowly approached me.

Audrey was right beside me. I realized that she was shorter than Sheryl, shorter than me by a head or so. Like Sheryl, her fringes were long enough to hide her emotion away from anyone. I couldn’t know what or where she was looking.

It was a long silence after both of us watched how the furry hopped back.

I couldn’t stand it anymore, the silence is killing me.

“How could you know it’s a female?” I asked question causally hoping to get an interesting response from her.

“Girl’s Instinct” She replied without hesitation but stopped there as well.

Once again, I asked a stupid question which doesn’t help to change the atmosphere.

Looking at Audrey who was right beside me, I noticed that her ponytail sway to the side and she was now facing me.

“Thank for today…”

She whispered into my ear softly yet sincerely, meaning everything that she said.

To come to think of it, I had a lot of fun today, not to mention about the long hours of bus ride which made my back sore like an old man. But today, she brought me here to see something which looked so differently from the daily hectic life.

In fact, I should thank her for today as well.

The very next moment which I wanted to thank her, she interrupted me.

“If only you were Kobe, I could be even happier.”

She added sadly, as if she wasn’t enjoyed today at all.

With that, she walked away, away from me.

“Sorry…” was the last word she said as she walked into woods which is so dark that it consumed all the light surrounding it like a black hole.

Under the moonlight, I could see her gleaming eyes. It was her tears, she was crying. I was confused. Confusing about what makes her cried.

But one thing which I know for sure that she was feeling sad and lonely.

I wanted to chase after her as she might get lost in the woods or even get in danger.

“GOOD JOB” I heard hoarse voice which made me stopped for awhile.

Turning my head toward the direction where the voice was coming from. I saw silhouette images standing on top of the high ground where it was a stone throw away from me.

With the faint moonlight, I managed to find Audrey who was approaching toward them. I managed to identify that one of them with the long spiky hair. Unmistakably, it was actually the same group of thugs which whacked Kobe a few days ago.

I took a closer look, finding that the guy with the messed-up hair was holding onto someone by his neck. His clothes were tattered and his hair was disheveled. That guy which got held by his neck was Kobe!

“You said you wouldn’t do anything to him!”

Audrey ran toward them, while screaming it so loud that my ears were ringing for a moment.

With a loud plod noise as if something heavy had dropped onto the floor. I saw that Kobe had fallen onto the ground. Beside him, Audrey was hugging onto him. I couldn’t heard whether she was crying or not but I could see the gleaming trails flowing down her face under the moonlight.

The silhouette turned toward, facing me. I could feel a cold hard stare, staring on me.

“So you are Ken, the one who made Kobe to betray us?”
