“Are you his family member?” Someone in white asked me while I was filling up Ken’s particular. It’s was the doctor.
I shook my head while continuing writing it.
“Are you his sister?”
He continued questioning me, even though I replied earlier that I was not his family member. I shook again.
“Are you his girlfriend?” He continued.
Upon hearing that, I put the pen down, thinking on whether how I should reply as I do not want the doctor to misunderstand the situation.
The time between Ken and I was too short to begin with, and also he didn’t said that I was his girlfriend, neither do I know how Ken treats me. Maybe I’m just a friend who brought trouble for him in the first place and he was getting into all these just to keep me out of trouble. Maybe any friend could do this when their friend got into trouble.
“I am just –“
Before I could reply, he interrupted me.
“He needs to be hospitalized for a day as he suffered a minor torn ligament on his elbow. It might not be serious, but just in case.”
I merely nodded in response to his diagnosis.
“Look at that guy… He needs to stay here for at least 3 days” He said as he pointed at that guy who got bandaged heavily.
He was Kobe, the one who came with us earlier. Despite limping away, the girl beside was supporting him. However he tried to refuse her help, but it was to no avail as the girl was stubborn, either way both of them were stubborn to begin with.
“Looking at the situation, it seems like both guys are fighting for girls. Was it a love triangle? Or was it something else… These days, relationships sure get complicated as compare to my time.” He mumbled to himself
I ignored him and asked him where Ken is. He pointed to me and left for lunch together with couple of nurses.
With that, I headed to the room at the end.
I push the door slowly, with a cranking noise as the rusty hinges rubbed against each other.
It was a small but bright room as the windows are wide opened, as if welcoming the light into this room. With 2 fluffy beds in it, separated by a miniature drawer in the middle, making it looks cozy. Hanging on the wall was a painting of The Cliffs at Etretat, painted by Claude Monet, making the whole room looks like an endless sketch of the blue horizons. Of course, that painting was an imitation.
There he was, too engross in looking at that magnificent painting, that he forgets to notice that I was there.
Lying on the bed, he leaned his head against his hand. Using the other hand as if to sketch out the painting, making him looks like professional artist who are trying to get his perspective correctly.
But wait-
“Wasn’t he suffered from a torn ligament on his elbow?” I began to recall what the doctor said as I was surprised to see him raising his hand normally.
I observed him again, only to find that the bandage was left uncoiled beside the bed. I headed toward him. Of course, I was angry at this moment, angry at how he lightly he taken his body for.
He noticed me and he waved to me using both of his hands this time round. That moment, I really do not know how to react, whether to be angry or to laugh at his stupidity.
Of course, I couldn’t took it and I laughed.
Not knowing what had caused me to laugh, he laughed together with me. Our laughter filled the room. Right now the room feels like the beach, where we are having fun under the sun along the infinite stretch of the pretty shore.
“Is your elbow okay?” I asked him, hoping that he will answer honestly. But at the same time, I do not wish that he replied that he was really in pain.
“Huh…” He replied as if he couldn’t hear what I was asking.
I approached right beside him. Right above his head, bending down and repeat myself.
“Is your elb-“
Before I could finish, I feel a gentle pat on my head. It continues patting on my head for a few more time. It was comfortable, so gently that it was addictive that I couldn’t reject but to continue letting him to pat on it.
Of course, I stopped him after quite some time, after I managed to get myself back.
“Everything is okay…” He replied it softly but loud enough for me as his face is right in front of me. So close, that I could feel his breath. His eyes were looking right straight into mine’s. Instead of turning away, he continues looking into me.
Of course, I looked away, pretending to ignore him. I stood up and try to get him a cup of drink.
Pouring the hot water from the flask, I prepared a warm milk-tea for him. Cuddling around the plastic cup, I try to make sure the temperature is just alright for him by blowing lightly into it.
Making sure that the temperature is perfect, I passed it to Ken, who was drinking it slowly, making a slurping sound every time he drink. I swear that he was like a small kid right now and the way he slurped was cute!
“It was warm…” He said after he finished drinking. Of course, I laughed a little telling him back that it was obvious that the drink was warm since I pour hot water into it.
I took the empty cup which he was still holding onto it. The cup was warm. Just like what my heart feels now. At least someone does enjoy my favorite drink
Planning to wash it, I stood up and head towards the door.
Suddenly, I feel something grabbing onto my hand. It was Ken, he was holding onto it.
I turned my head, only to see him, already standing right behind me. I was really surprised.
“Come let’s go!”
I was entering a whole new world. A world full of mysteries but I am not afraid, for which Ken is the one who lead me to this new beginning…
